Live NASM Continuing Education Courses

JYKinesiology, LLC has been a continuing education Provider for the National Academy of Sports Medicine since 2013.  Jeff has created a curriculum which moves in logical progression (each course building upon the previous course) from "kindergarten concepts" to specific protocols.

The first course includes exercise prescription guidelines for individuals with chronic disease and a case study where the course attendees can create a hypothetical individual and situation, choosing whichever medical maladies they'd like, and then Jeff explains how to design a program for that person.

An example would be a person (male or female) who is in their low 60's, obese, has hypertension, type II diabetes, multiple sclerosis, knee arthritis, hermiated lumbar disk, and shoulder impingement syndrome -- where do we begin, and how to we progress?

The answers are pretty simple once you understand the "first principles" of exercise science, medicine, and sports medicine, and how to merge these principles into an individual exercise prescription.

While it isn't required to attend every course, the courses were designed to paint a clear, comprehensive, overall picture on how to design exercise programs for special populations.

The first two courses are split nearly in half, with the first half of each course being predominantly lecture (you have to start with "theory" before you can move to "application"), and the second half being predominantly floor time (i.e. workshop format).

The second two courses are predominantly in workshop format.  All courses are three hours in length and are .3 CECs.  Since the National Academy of Sports Medicine is an NCCA accredited certifying organization, attendees do NOT need to be NASM certified to receive CECs.  Each attendee will receive a certificate of completion through email 3 to 5 days following the completion of the course.  Attendees can then submit the certificate of completion to their certifying body for credit toward certification renewal.  Some certifying bodies require filling out a waiver as well -- please contact your certifying body to learn their submission guidelines.

Attendees are required to be on time and stay for the entire course to receive a certificate of completion.
